Fallen service personnel from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were flown to RAF Lyneham from 2007 to August 2011. En route to Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, people lined the streets to pay their respects to the fallen.
In all 345 men and women were repatriated through the town, on 167 separate occasions.
In March 2011 Wootton Bassett was the first town in over a century to be granted the title “royal” to mark the way the town honoured the fallen.
There is a copy of the document marking this occasion housed in the museum.
